A few words about your daily work tasks and responsibilities:

I am primarily responsible for data analysis, mostly financial data. Currently I create a dynamic model to estimate profit for a new planned retail store in the New York area. As the conditions for this store change daily, the model must be dynamic and is used in planning meetings to run the numbers.

A few words about your career:

I started to attend a hotel management school that included 3 internships in resorts and completed this with a Bachelor of Business Administration. During this program, I discovered that I am interested in financials and wanted to gain more knowledge.
After my graduation in Umeå, the hospitality did not offer me positions in this field and I thus shifted to the consumer products industry.

Where you started after graduation and how your career have progressed:

Currently I work with the leading German cutlery manufacturer, which has a promising career path for me. After a 2,5 months introduction phase in their headquarter in Solingen, I have been transfered to the division in New York, United States. It is planned that I stay here for one year and move to another division. The long term goal is to become a division manager. This all sounds very promising and I am very happy and interested.

Any advice you would like to current students:

It takes a lot of time to find a job after graduation. It is important to find out a little gap where we - as fresh graduates - can fit in. There are million of graduates each year, many from top rated schools, but the combination of our skills and experiences make us unique. And thus, we need to find a company who is exactly looking for this.
