Title: Business Development Manager

Company

Ebba Biotech AB

Tasks:

Right now I'm working as business development manager at a life science company. We manufacture and sell molecules for staining of tissue samples in the lab environment.

My main duties is to build the company with a focus on sales and international growth. I work daily with both operational and strategic global issues ranging from market strategies, client meetings, and legal issues.

My career:

Previously I worked as the CEO of a medical device company in Umeå, but I felt I needed more challenges. Therefore, I started to look for new opportunities in the life science industry.  Mainly I wanted to work with the support functions for newly started entrepreneurs and businesses, but was recommended to apply for this exciting position.

What attracted mainly with this job was the opportunity to influence and shape a young company, and the ability to work internationally within the exciting industry of Biotech.

Specialization on Bachelor level:

International Business

My reasons for chosing this:

I have always been interested in international meetings between people. This focus has given me a good basis to work internationally and to understand international economic issues in companies.

Specialization on Master level:

Entrepreneurship and Business Development.

My reasons for chosing this:

I wanted to deepen and broaden my education in the field of business development with a focus on entrepreneurial businesses, to understand how to work and grow in an entrepreneurial environment. It is very exciting to be the one that can affect how the company grows.

My recommendations to current students:

I do not think it is that important what education you choose, however what is important is that you want to develop and learn new things. Try to understand how you can put your education into something that you want to do 8 hours per day. Find your passion, then it becomes a way of life and not just a job.
